SAMBA: District Legal Services Authority, Samba as per the directions of National Legal Services Authority, conducted first Undertrial Review Committee meeting as per Schedule launched by National Legal Services Authority for the year 2025. The main objective of launch of this Schedule by NALSA is to enhance the efficacy and impact of the UTRC meetings by establishing a fixed quarterly schedule for the year. The meeting was chaired by Pr. District & Sessions Judge-cum-Chairman DLSA, Samba Ravinder Nath Wattal, with the members of the Under Trial Review Committee (UTRC).
In the meeting, the Committee reviewed cases of eligible UTPs/Prisoners shortlisted by the Secretary, DLSA Samba for consideration. The Committee considered 18 cases of UTPs/Prisoners out of which 3 Cases were recommended for release and 1 was recommended to the concerned Court for appropriate action.
The meeting was attended by Secretary District Legal Services Authority Sandeep Singh Sen; Deputy Commissioner Rajesh Sharma; Addl. SP G. R. Bhardwaj, on behalf of Senior Superintendent of Polic. Besides these, Veerinder Bhat Sr. Superintendent, Central Jail Kotbhalwal, Ram Avtar, Assistant Superintendent on behalf of Superintendent, District Jail Kathua and Harish Kotwal, Superintendent District Jail Amphala, Jammu joined the meeting through Virtual mode and also Legal Aid Defense Counsels attended the meeting.
