SHOPIAN: A meeting of District Level Technical Committee (DLTC) was Monday held under the chairmanship of the District Development Commissioner (DDC) Shopian, Mohammad Shahid Saleem Dar to finalise the scale of finance for the year 2025-26 for Agriculture and allied sectors at Mini-Secretariat, Shopian. On the occasion, DDC sought detailed feedback from the officers regarding the costs of inputs involved for growing different types of agricultural crops.
The committee discussed input and market prices to determine appropriate short-term loans for farmers across various sectors, including agriculture, horticulture, animal, sheep husbandry, etc. It was informed that the rates finalized by the Committee will be forwarded to the State Level Technical Committee. It was also informed that the rates approved in scale of finance serves as a tool for arriving at the Potential Credit Plan of the district.
Dar emphasized the importance of agriculture and allied sectors to the local economy and urged banks to proactively provide loans to farmers, highlighting the significance of credit facilities in boosting agro- economic activities. The DDC directed the officers to ensure maximum coverage of the farmer under the agricultural development schemes. The meeting was attended by ADDC, Dr. Nasir Ahmed Lone; LDM, CAO, DSHO and the Officers from Animal Husbandry, Sericulture, Floriculture, Fisheries and officials of the banks operating in the District.
