SHOPIAN: The Deputy Commissioner (DC) Shopian, Mohammad Shahid Saleem Dar today visited Mughal Road to assess the snow clearance operations, currently underway across the arterial road. The DC was informed by an Officer from the Mechanical Engineering department that snow clearance is currently underway, with 31.50 km of the road already cleared up to Aliabad Sarai.

However, the officer further apprised that snow clearance operation may take little more time than anticipated, due to road blockage caused by rock falls at the 31.50 km mark. To proceed with the snow clearance, the rock debris needs to be cleared first, after which the team will continue snow clearance uphill towards Peer Ki Gali.

The DC instructed the concerned to initiate the clearance of rock debris immediately today itself so as to complete the snow clearance on the road by tomorrow. ADDC, Dr. Nasir Ahmad Lone; ADC, Dr. Zakir Hussain Faaz, ACR and other officers were also present.
