SOPORE: Continuing its sustained drive against the drug menace, J&K Police in Sopore, in collaboration with the Excise Department, carried out a wild cannabis destruction drive at Panzipora in the jurisdiction of Police Station Tarzoo.

Acting on credible information regarding the presence of wild cannabis (bhang/bung) in the area, a joint team of Sopore Police and Excise Department, with the participation of local residents, conducted the destruction drive at the identified location. During the operation, wild cannabis growing over a considerable area was identified and destroyed after completing the requisite legal formalities. Samples were also collected and seized for further examination.

The action forms part of the continuous efforts of Police to identify and destroy wild growth of narcotic plants and eliminate potential sources of drug abuse and illicit narcotics. Police reiterates its commitment to sustained action against the drug menace and will continue such coordinated drives to build a safer, healthier and drug-free society.
