NEW DELHI: Major General Atul Kaushik, Sena Medal has been awarded the prestigious Vishist Seva medal on the eve of 69th Republic day. He has made outstanding contributions to the operational and administrative aspect of high altitude warfare. Pertinently, he is currently the commandant of High Altitude Warfare Institute at Gulmarg, Kashmir. It is worth pointing out here that he is a highly decorated officer with Sena Medal, Chief of army commendation for gallantry thrice, wound medal for being a battle casualty while fighting militants and Sena Medal for leading Rashtriya Rifles Units at Sopore and Bandipora.Â

SRINAGAR: A three-day meeting of representatives of the Chambers of Commerce and Industry of Jammu, Kashmir and PoK was held in Bangkok from January 25 to 27.  The spokesman said the new leadership of the Jammu & Kashmir Joint Chamber of Commerce and Industry (J&K-JCCI) assumed office for the new term of 2018 as per the prevailing traditions of this forum Mr Javid Ahmad Tenga took the position of President, with Mr Rakesh Gupta and Mr Ghulam Murtaza as joint Presidents.

This was followed by a detailed discussion about the support required by the J&K-JCCI to become more strengthened in order to be able to work towards the facilitation of trade. The J&K-JCCI reiterated their support on the ground to the LOC traders and to play their role in making recommendations to respective governments for enhancing this confidence-building measure. An MOU was also signed in this regard.

The other attendees including women leaders from the three regions proposed futuristic measures to boost trade and economic and cultural connectivity. The main ideas discussed to promote the LOC trade were the inclusion of services in this context and advanced banking arrangements to facilitate a better and more effective trade process. All the business leaders agreed to take these ideas forward by talking to the governments of India and Pakistan and building confidence in their respective communities as well as amongst the three Chambers of Commerce and Industries.

The spokesman said ex-presidents and presidents of the Chambers apprised the participants of the previous efforts made to promote the cross-LOC trade. The efforts and leadership of the past presidents to get the Joint Chamber to this point were greatly admired by the participants and it was emphasised that their continued guidance and support for this institution would be highly valuable. Subsequently, important issues concerning each region were discussed by the representatives, the key focus being on the improvement of connectivity across the regions.Â

The most attractive feature of the song is that itâs the first ever song that features the Prime Minister himself. PM Modi has voiced the title âEk Bharat Shresth Bharatâ in the song.

The aim of âEk Bharat Shresth Bharatâ is to celebrate the Unity in Diversity of our Nation and to maintain and strengthen the fabric of traditionally existing emotional bonds between the people of our Country, and to promote the spirit of national integration through a deep and structured engagement between all Indian States. Pt. Bhajan Sopori acknowledged the efforts of Sh. Fayyaz Sheheryar, Director General, Akashwani for initiating PMâs concept in the form of a song strengthening the cultural bond within the country and create an atmosphere of mutual love and respect for the motherland. He also said that this this song will further create an awareness of national integration and enrich our culture.

Languages like Punjabi, Kashmiri, Gujarati, Bengali, Assamese and Tamil have been included in the first version of the song covering various regions of the country. The song has been written by renowned Kashmiri writer Rafiq Raaz and sung by some of the most eminent singers of the country like Ustad Rashid Khan, Vidushi Bombay Jayashri, Sonu Nigam, Shaan, Shankar Mahadevan, Anwesha, Malini Awasthi, Kaushiki Chakraborty & Abhay Rustum Sopori.
Another unique feature of the song is that it introduces 3 new voices Shahbaz Gul & Masrat-Un-Nisa from Kashmir and Iqbal S. Qureshi from Gujarat. âItâs a great honour for all to feature in a song along with none other than the Honâble PM and also a major breakthrough for young talents getting their first ever break in such a prestigious production, and we am happy to include talented Kashmiri youth showcasing their talent to the worldâ, said Abhay Sopori. NEW DELHI: One of the significant feature of 2018 Padma Shri awards was Padma Shri for a Saudi Citizen for propagating Yoga Nouf Marwaai a Saudi Yogacharinie who played an important role in legalization of yoga in Saudi Arabia. She has over the years taught 3000 students and 70 teachers yoga. She is the founder of Arab Yoga Foundation , the first Yoga organization in Arab world.

She was born with Auto- Immune disease and overcame same through yoga and Naturopathy .She has travelled to different parts of India with reference to study of Yoga and Ayurveda and has been the active practioner since 19 years. She is probably the first Arab women to bag prestigious Padma Shri. Padma Shri (also Padma Shree) is the fourth highest civilian award in the Republic of India, after the Bharat Ratna, the Padma Vibhushan and the Padma Bhushan. Awarded by the Government of India, it is announced every year on India's Republic Day.

SRINAGAR: Brigadier Vikram Nagpal posted at Northern Command Udhampur , Jammu and Kashmir has bagged the prestigious Sena medal on eve of India's 69th Republic Day. Pertinent to mention here , Sena medal is awarded to members of the Indian army, of all ranks, "for such individual acts of exceptional devotion to duty or courage as have special significance for the Army." Awards may be made posthumously and a bar is authorized for subsequent awards of the Sena Medal.
It can be awarded for gallantry or it can also be for distinguished service carried out by any soldier, not in the face of the enemy. Therefore, the Sena Medal also serves as a sort of general commendation medal. Pertinently, President Ram Nath Kovind had commissioned 390 gallantry awards and decorations for Defence forces and others on eve of 69th Republic Day of India. Brigadier Nagpal has served at key posts especially in violence-hit state of Jammu and Kashmir.Â

A Contingent of J&K Armed Police presented the Guard of Honor and the ceremonial function was attended by all the Officers/ official of J&K posted here. Meanwhile, the children presented a colorful programme In his brief address Rakesh Kumar Gupta greeted the participants on this auspicious occasion and stressed upon maintaining unity and integrity in diversity of our Country. Later Principal Resident Commissioner interacted with the Officers / officials of the house and distributed sweets among the people present on the occasion.
