JAMMU: Prof. Bhim Singh, Chief Patron of National Panthers Party has dashed an urgent letter to Shri Satya Pal Malik, Governor of J&K urging him to convene an urgent meeting of the representatives of all recognized political parties on the issue what needs to be done to restore peace and deliver justice to the people of all three regions of the state namely, Ladakh, Kashmir and Jammu Pradesh. Prof.Bhim Singh urged the Governor that, “I have been associated with boiling situation in J&K since 1953 when I was a student of Class-VI in Ramnagar, District Udhampur. I have faced expulsions from the schools, from the colleges and even from the Assembly. What I have gathered during my over 50 years struggle in J&K for seeking justice, equity and rule of law that has been even printed in some of my books.
Your Excellency has taken up very difficult job but it is not impossible to find a solution for the return of peace in J&K. Under the circumstances when there is Governor Rule in the state, Your Excellency has a great opportunity to invoke your goodwill and experience to involve the people from all the three regions of the state namely, Ladakh, Kashmir and Jammu state. This is an opportunity to involve people of all walks of life from the three regions to generate an Ocean of goodwill and peace. Your Excellency, this is the time that all the regions with different schools of thought need to be involved in the dialogue/discussion.
I feel that this is the time that Your Excellency may convene a close door meeting (without press or media) with representatives of different schools of thought say, representatives of all recognised political parties in the state, all ex-MLAs who may belong to any group even to the Hurriyat Conference. Your Excellency may call 4/5 well known social activists, may they be from any religious group. This conference should be convened at any place in Kashmir or Jammu province with an agenda, “What needs to be done to ensure confidence of the people and bring an end to all forms of violence in the state.” The people of J&K have faced more difficult situation than they are facing today. People of the state deserve to be involved in a dialogue/discussion so that peace returns and justice delivered to all. No press/media should be allowed to sit in such a conference and none shall be permitted to report the progress except the chair at its pleasure.
Your Excellency, I strongly feel that you should personally convene a meeting with the political representatives including the angry leadership and seek their opinion on what needs to be done. This is an opportunity which I am sure you are not going to miss. Opinion of the chosen bureaucrats or political persons on what needs to be done will not be sufficed. You need opinion from other side of the wall and from those who are committed to peace and harmony. I feel that you should call a meeting of the representatives of all recognized political parties including that of Hurriyat Conference with an open mind what needs to be done for the return of peace and justice to all.”
