Sobia AltafJAMMU: By participating in sports with dedication and hard work, girls not only can achieve, succeed, earn and support their family but can also secure themselves by being fit in daily life.  “Sports makes you tension free plus fit, gives you an entity to live and a respectable job too, there’s an opportunity in everything, and we just need to allow ourselves to see it. It can be also creating jobs too, where a person can be trained and work in schools, academys too”. This was opined by Sobia Altaf who has secured five gold medals at state level so far by participating in a tough game Karate and gymnastics.

During an online interview with Editor-in-Chief of JK Monitor Ajmer Alam Wani, Sobia Altaf disclosed that her aim is to represent Jammu and Kashmir UT in National as well as International  and she want to become a coach of young Karate team of JK.

According to her in today’s Kashmir girls are pursuing everywhere whether it is exams or games. “As an athlete you have so much to teach all of us about how to be resilient. How to respond to adversity, how to deal with loss, martial arts lessons are an excellent form of Self-Defense Training. There are a number of benefits that come from healthy self-confidence, you manage fears and maintain a positive mental attitude.

About the facilities and infrastructure she believe that basic infrastructure, counselling and support from concerned department can motivate players to play and achieve more if they hail and support the players. She suggested that there should be a separate building where only girls, women can play and trained so after that they can play and coach in their respective fields. 

A student of class 12th from Nawakadal Srinagar, Sobia Altaf started her Sport’s journey at the age of ten. She is a National Athlete and 5 times state Gold Medalists in J&K, besides medals in Gymnastics too. Sobia Altaf had also played through (SGFI) School Games Federation of India in Kargil for trials and she has been selected in National Level in MP Indore. Besides all this, she is good in Handflips, Stretching.
