KULGAM: Continuing its efforts to eradicate the menace of drugs from the society, police have arrested two drug peddlers in Kulgam and recovered contraband substance from their possession.

During dynamic naka checking at NHW near Navyug Tunnel, a party of Police Post Navyug Tunnel intercepted a Honda Amaze bearing Registration No. JK01AT-2497, with two persons on board. During checking of the vehicle, 17 grams of Heroin-like substance was recovered. The two accused persons have been identified as Riaz Ahmed Mir son of Abdul Gaffar Mir and Hanan Mushtaq son of Mushtaq Ahmad, both residents of Khunmoh, Srinagar. Subsequently, they were arrested and shifted to police station.

In this connection, a case FIR No. 219/2026 under relevant sections of law has been registered at Police Station Qazigund and investigation has been set into motion. Police remains committed to curbing the menace of drug trafficking and urges the public to cooperate with the Police and share information regarding drug-related activities.
