SRINAGAR: Horticulture Department, District Srinagar today organized a one-day District level Exhibition cum awareness programme at Lalmandi complex Srinagar under ATMA 2024-25. The programme was chaired by Director Horticulture Kashmir, Zahoor Ahmad Bhat. He interacted with participant orchardists/farmers and discussed the present scenario and future strategies for development of the Horticulture sector.
He also visited the stall where fresh and dry fruit exhibits including gardening tools from Divisional Manager Plant Protection Srinagar were displayed for awareness of the farmers. More than 115 orchardists/farmers participated in the programme in which.
During the programme, awareness was raised among farmers regarding development of Horticulture with the intervention of new technologies, including nursery raising on new exotic rootstocks with new introduced exotic varieties of various crops viz. Apple, Pear, cherry and walnut etc.
Also, the information regarding financial assistance through various schemes viz. HADP, MIDH, JKCIP, CAPEX, PDMC, ATMA etc was given to maximize the income of the farmers.
