SRINAGAR: The Directorate of Samagra Shiksha, in collaboration with the Artificial Limbs Manufacturing Corporation of India (ALIMCO), CEO Srinagar proudly continues its four-day assessment camp for children with special needs (CWSN) at GGHSS Kothibagh, Srinagar. Day 2 witnessed a significant turnout, with participation from Chief Education Officer Srinagar, Ms. Shabina Kysar; District Education Planning Officer, Ms. Anjum Raja; and experts from ALIMCO, along with numerous CWSN students, parents, special education teachers, resource persons, and counselors.
Ms. Shabina Kysar,CEO Srinagar engaged in one-on-one interactions with CWSN students and their parents, emphasizing the critical importance of these assessments. "We must ensure that not a single CWSN student, whether enrolled in school or not, is deprived of this opportunity," she stated during her address to the participants.
In her remarks, Ms. Anjum Raja DEPO Srinagar highlighted a significant milestone for this camp, noting that for the first time, counseling facilities have been provided to CWSN students and their families, enhancing the support available during the assessment process.
As of today, the camp has successfully assessed 300 CWSN students, offering vital evaluations for conditions such as locomotory impairment, hearing impairment, blindness, intellectual disabilities, cerebral palsy, multiple disabilities, mental illness, and autism.
Parents expressed their gratitude to the organizers for facilitating this beneficial initiative in District Srinagar, underscoring the positive impact of such camps on the community. The assessment camp will continue over the next two days, striving to provide comprehensive support and resources to children with special needs and their families.
