POONCH: District Development Commissioner Poonch Ashok Kumar Sharma today convened a Public outreach camp at Village Jhulaas and listened to the grievances and developmental demands of the local residents.

The residents projected several issues concerning developmental works and public welfare. The demands mainly related to improvement of road connectivity, irrigation facilities, healthcare services, tourism development, power supply, construction of bunkers and blacktopping of roads in the area.

The locals also demanded establishment of a bank branch along with ATM facility in the area and recruitment of locals as porters. The issue of illegal mining was also highlighted, with the public seeking strict action against those involved in such activities.

The DDC patiently listened to all the grievances and took note of the issues raised by the people. He directed the concerned departments to immediately look into the matters and ensure that all genuine demands are addressed on priority.

The officers from different departments responded to the queries raised by the public and informed them about the measures being taken to resolve their issues.

The District Development Commissioner appealed to the public to cooperate with the administration and police in curbing the drug menace by reporting any suspicious activity or information related to drug peddlers.

The Chief Agriculture Officer briefed the locals about the agriculture and horticulture schemes being implemented by the government, explaining the provision of subsidies and benefits available under different welfare programmes.

Among others present included Assistant Commissioner Revenue Muhammad Sayeed; ACD Naeem-ul-Nisa Batti; Chief Agriculture Officer, Executive Engineers, officers from various line departments and other district officials.
