NEW DELHI/ JAMMU: Ace exporter and entrepreneur Dr Romesh Khajuria on Thursday took charge as Chairman of Carpet Export Promotion Council (CEPC) by the Office of Development Commissioner (Handicrafts), Ministry of Textiles, Govt of India New Delhi. The government of India yesterday appointed Dr Khajuria, chairman of the Wool and Woollens Export Promotion Council (WWEPC), Ministry of Textile, Government of India, as Chairman CEPC as Additional Charge w.e.f. 11th March, 2024 till further orders.

Dr. Romesh Khajuria today took additional charge as Chairman, CEPC at New Delhi in an impressive ceremony. Dr. Khajuria has been appointed Chairman of Carpet Export Promotion Council, Ministry of Textiles, Govt of India top priority is to hold elections for the post of 18 committee of administration (COA) Members and  vice chairman in accordance with Memorandum and Articles of Association and Election Rules of CEPC amended till date it was stated by Dr Khajuria.

Dr Khajuria son of the soil hailed from Jammu's village Rehal in Bishnah. Khajuria also deals with growth of the entrepreneur ecosystem and exports of Wool and Woollen blended based products. Taking over charge of the posts, Khajuria thanked government for giving him important responsibility.

Dr. Romesh Khajuria is presently also the Chairman of Wool & Woollens Export Promotion Council (WWEPC) since March, 2022. During his tenure as Chairman, WWEPC, Dr Romesh has contributed to the promotion of export of Woollen Products from the country and the Council has undertaken aggressive export promotion strategy by participating in trade Fairs/exhibitions in countries like France, Italy, Spain, UAE, Japan, Australia, UK, USA, Brazil and Canada. During Dr. Khajuria’s tenure WWEPC also arranged following national level events in India:

Export Awareness Workshop at Kishtwar (J&K) on 29th September, 2022 organized by JKTPO in association with DGFT & WWEPC. Export Awareness Workshop at Kathua (J&K) on 11th November, 2022 organized by JKTPO in association with WWEPC. Interactive workshop on ‘Marketing Linkage for Wool Growers of Kashmir’, Srinagar on 20th November, 2022 organised by Central Wool Development Board in association with Directorate of Sheep Husbandry Dept. Kashmir and WWEPC
