POONCH: District Development Commissioner Poonch, Vikas Kundal on Thursday chaired a meeting to review the progress achieved in promoting self employment under Jammu and Kashmir Rural Employment Generation Programme (JKREGP), Prime Minister Employment Generation Programme(PMEGP) being implemented by District industries Centre and Khadi And Village Board poonch.

The Deputy Commissioner asked the line departments to encourage the maximum number of unemployed youth to establish ventures under government schemes. He urged bankers to expedite the processing of loan Disbursement to achieve the desired targets and facilitate aspiring entrepreneurs in establishing their income-generating units without delay.

The JKREGP and PMEGP schemes aim to harness the potential of youth in establishing enterprises in production and services sectors, thereby creating job opportunities. Additionally, it focuses on developing entrepreneurial skills among rural unemployed youth through the establishment of new self-employment ventures and MSMEs. The meeting was attended by the General Manager of DIC,  District Officer of KVIB, Lead District Manager, and other concerned officers.
