POONCH: Balnoi Battalion of the Indian Army in collaboration with People's Hut Foundation, Diva International and State Organ and Tissue Transplant Organisation (SOTTO) J&K conducted a “Free Medical and Organ Donation Awareness Camp” at Balnoi Base, Sub Division Mendhar, Tehsil - Mankote, District Poonch. The main aim of conducting this medical camp was to provide essential free health care services to the villagers in the Area of responsibility of Balnoi Battalion.
The People's Hut Foundation headed by Dr. Rohit Koul which is a national level registered NGO registered with Govt of India & Niti Aayog brought together a team of dedicated health care professionals who volunteered to offer medical consultations. The SOTTO J&K was also invited and was represented by Dr. Irfan Ahmed Lone, Transplant Coordinator SOTTO J&K .He shared the importance of Organ Donation and clarified some myths that people have when it comes to organ donation and transplantation.
The medical camp themed “Mobile Health Clinic Program” saw an overwhelming participation where more than 487 patients availed the free services from villages of Mankote Block. In addition to medical consultation in Gynaecology, Orthopaedics, Dentistry, ENT, Pathology, General medicine, Ophthalmology the camp also provided free Allopathic Medicines basic health screening and awareness about Nutrition. Hygiene and preventive care.
The medical camp provided medical services to all villages in Mendhar, including Balnoi, Dabraj, Sagra, Ghani and Mankote, which lack basic medical facilities due to their proximity to the Line of Control. A special grievance and service camp for the people of Balnoi and nearby villages was also organized by J&K Bank in collaboration with People’s Hut Foundation under the supervision of Sh. Deepak Bhan, Chief Manager, J&K Bank with the assistance of Anoop Kumar and Amit Kumar Bali, Assistant Managers of the J&K Bank. It received a great response from the local people.
Team of Doctors and Technicians were provided by the Chief Medical officer Poonch, Dr. Parvaiz Ahmed under the directions from Director Health Services Jammu Dr Rakesh Magotra. The medical camp was successfully conducted in collaboration with the Balnoi Battalion.
The village elders and Ex- Servicemen of the area of responsibility conveyed their heartfelt gratitude to the Indian Army, People's Hut Foundation, Diva International Foundation, SOTTO and J&K Bank for organising the multi-disciplinary camp The representatives of People's Hut Foundation, Diva International Foundation, SOTTO, J&K Bank, Medical staff and other doctors were felicitated by the Balnoi Battalion.
