POONCH: A comprehensive training program for Master Volunteers and resource persons under the Nasha Mukt Bharat Abhiyan was conducted today here. This initiative aims to strengthen the district's efforts in combating substance abuse and promoting a drug-free society. The event, held in the Auditorium Hall of the Government Degree College, was hosted in collaboration with the JKSLCA, Ministry of Social Justice & Empowerment, Government of India, and the District Administration Poonch.
Under the overall guidance of Deputy Commissioner Vikas Kundal, and the supervision of District Social Welfare Officer (DSWO) Wakeel Ahmed Bhat, the program focused on equipping volunteers with essential knowledge and skills.
Kimi Parihar from JKSLCA briefed the participants on strategies and interventions to tackle substance abuse at the grassroots level. She emphasized the role of Master Volunteers as key agents in spreading awareness, identifying vulnerable individuals, and mobilizing community support for de-addiction efforts. The training saw enthusiastic participation, empowering volunteers to engage effectively with the community.
The training program featured four comprehensive sessions, including: Information on Drugs, Drug Use and Its Consequences, District-Level Nasha Mukt Bharat Abhiyaan, Intervention Spectrum in Drug Treatment and Prevention. This initiative marks another milestone in Poonch's commitment to building a drug-free and healthier society. By training dedicated volunteers, the district aims to foster a supportive environment for those struggling with substance abuse.
