JAMMU The Indian Institute of Management (IIM) Jammu organized a one-day Hindi Workshop at the Aryabhatta Classroom on 10th July 2024. The Chief Guest for the event was Shri Jagdish Ram Pauri, Director Rajbhasha, Ministry of Education, Government of India. He was accompanied by Shri Kishore Kumar, Senior Translation Officer, Hindi Rajbhasha, Ministry of Education, Government of India. Prof. B.S. Sahay, Director, IIM Jammu presided over the inaugural ceremony.
Present on the occasion were Prof. Jabir Ali, Dean Academics, IIM Jammu; Dr. Anuja Akhouri, Co-Chairperson, Hindi Rajbhasha; Cmdr. Kesavan Baskkaran, Chief Administrative Officer; along with faculty, officers, staff members, and students of the Institute. The event commenced with a welcome address by Shri Abhay Kumar Awasthi, Hindi Rajbhasha Committee, IIM Jammu, followed by the symbolic lighting of the lamp by the dignitaries.
Dr. Anuja Akhouri welcomed everyone and gave a brief introduction about the illustrious journey of Shri Jagdish Ram Pauri, highlighting his instrumental role in creating awareness about Hindi Rajbhasha and its usage. Prof. B.S. Sahay, Director, IIM Jammu felicitated Shri Jagdish Ram Pauri with a memento and shawl. Shri Kishore Kumar was felicitated by Cmdr. Kesavan Baskkaran.
In his address, Prof. B.S. Sahay, Director, IIM Jammu emphasized the importance of Hindi as our Rajbhasha and detailed IIM Jammuâs efforts to ensure all official orders, including appointments, are bilingual. He noted that IIM Jammu is committed to official language implementation and stressed the need for further progress. He acknowledged the consistent efforts of the Government of India in promoting Hindi and expressed gratitude for Shri Jagdish Ram Pauriâs support. He reiterated IIM Jammu's commitment to Hindi Rajbhasha as per government guidelines and highlighted the role of films and programs like Tamil Sangam and Ek Bharat Shreshta Bharat in spreading Hindi. He urged everyone to incorporate one Hindi word daily into their vocabulary to foster the language in daily life.
Shri Jagdish Ram Pauri welcomed everyone and stressed the importance of communicating in one's mother tongue to achieve the vision of Viksit Bharat and becoming Vishwaguru, as envisioned by Prime Minister Narendra Modi. He highlighted the government's steps to promote Hindi while recognizing the diversity of languages in India. He mentioned that on September 14, 1949, the Constituent Assembly adopted Hindi in Devanagari script as the official language of India. He appreciated the efforts of the Rajbhasha Committee at IIM Jammu and encouraged them to continue fostering the use of Hindi across the institution. His address included quotes from illustrious poets and authors, making it truly enlightening.
The Chief Guest was also taken for a campus tour of the state-of-the-art facilities at IIM Jammu. The vote of thanks was proposed by Dr. Rambalak Yadav, Member, Rajbhasha Committee, IIM Jammu. The workshop featured an interactive session where various suggestions for improving Hindi Rajbhasha at IIM Jammu were discussed. The workshop concluded on a positive note.
