Celebrating the Fourth Pillar of Democracy: Insights from Indian Newspaper Day at Government Middle School, Dabuj Shahzada

RAMGARH: On the occasion of Newspaper Day, celebrated at Government Middle School, Dabuj Shahzada, Dr. Devinder Kumar Manyal, MLA Ramgarh and Former Minister for Health and Medical Education J&K delivered an inspiring speech, emphasizing the crucial role of the press as the fourth pillar of democracy.

He highlighted how the freedom of the press contributes significantly to national development by fostering a transparent and informed public. Dr. Manyal also spoke about the importance of Republic Day celebrations, stressing that patriotic songs and cultural activities play an essential role in instilling a deep sense of pride, unity, and national identity among citizens. 

“The press is the Fourth Pillar of democracy, and it is essential for maintaining transparency and accountability in governance,” Dr. Manyal remarked during his address. He further emphasized how events like Newspaper Day serve as a reminder of the media’s critical role in shaping public discourse.

The event was attended by ZEPO Anil Verma and Narinder Gupta, Incharge of Government Middle School Dabuj Shahzada, both of whom supported and appreciated the significance of the day. Their presence at the event was a meaningful reflection on the nation’s democratic values and the importance of the press in shaping public opinion.

In a separate event, Dr. Manyal inaugurated the Urban Aura clothing showroom in Mawa, Rajpura. He extended his congratulations to local entrepreneurs Bunty Singh Katal and Ritik Kumar for their efforts in launching the business. Dr. Manyal praised their entrepreneurial spirit, highlighting how initiatives like these are vital for fostering economic growth and providing job opportunities in the region.

The inauguration ceremony was graced by several prominent dignitaries, including Asha Rani, District President of BJP Samba, and DDC Rajpura. Both leaders commended the positive impact of such entrepreneurial ventures on the region’s growth and development. Also present were Mandal President Rajpura Asha Rani, Mandal Pardhan Bainglar Monu Jamwal, and Sarpanch Mawa Anita Choudhary, who expressed their support for both the Newspaper Day celebrations and the inauguration of the new showroom.
