GANDERBAL: Mr. Shakir Bashir, a 6th-semester student at the Department of Mathematics, Central University of Kashmir (CUKashmir), has achieved a significant milestone by qualifying the Joint Admission Test for Masters (IIT-JAM) and securing a fellowship for an Integrated Ph.D. program in Mathematics at IISER, Thiruvananthapuram.
The IIT-JAM is a prestigious examination facilitating admission to postgraduate and Integrated Ph.D. programs in top institutions like IITs, IISc, IISERs, and NITs, aimed at encouraging talented undergraduates in Science to pursue careers in research. Mr. Shakir will receive a fellowship of Rs. 12,400 per month for the initial two years of his M.Sc. program. Subsequently, his fellowship will be elevated to meet UGC-CSIR-JRF standards, approximately Rs. 50,000 per month.
Congratulating Mr. Shakir on this achievement, Vice-Chancellor Prof. A Ravinder Nath praised the Department and urged students to follow Shakir's exemplary path, acknowledging the faculty's pivotal role in his success. Dean of Academic Affairs Prof. Shahid Rasool highlighted that Shakir's success underscores not only his dedication but also the department's commitment to excellence.
Prof. Mahammad Yousuf, Dean of the School of Physical and Chemical Sciences, expressed confidence that Shakir's accomplishment will inspire students across CUKashmir and the valley.
