SRINAGAR: Democratic Progressive Azad Party Senior Leader Peer Bilal has demanded four-lanning of prestigious Boulevard road from Dalgate to Nishat garden. Despite passing of nearly 15 years, work on the four-laning of Boulevard Road is yet to take off.
In 2007, the then government headed by Ghulam Nabi Azad had taken up the project of 4-laning of the Boulevard road. “A Nagpur-based institute called National Environment Engineering Research Institute (NEERI) was supposed to submit the environment assessment report to the government which is pending till date. The project being in the eco-sensitive zone, needs environment clearance and submission of such reports are vital,”
Peer said first phase of Boulevard 4-laning project from Nehru Park to Kral-Sangri, The project is said to be vital for face lifting of Boulevard area which a tourist hub and will help in smoothening traffic flow as various world famous tourist places which includes Cheshmashahi, Golf Course, Internation convention centre. Nishat Garden, Shalimar Garden, Harwan Green Park, Dachigam National Park, Agriculture University at Shalimar, Ancient Budhist Site at Harwan besides it alternative highway for Ladakh UT.
