JAMMU: Commissioner Jammu Municipal Corporation Dr. Devansh Yadav today handed over Dogri version PM SVANidhi plates to the street vendors of Gandhi Nagar and Jewel areas at a function held here.
Addressing the gathering, the Commissioner said that PM SVANidhi is a special micro- credit facility launched by the Union Ministry of Housing and Urban Affairs under Atma Nirbhar Bharat initiative. He asked the Street vendors to come forward and avail the benefits of the scheme which would go a long way in ameliorating their livelihood.
The scheme was launched with the aim to provide financial support to the street vendors through working capital loans, incentivize regular repayment, and to promote digital transactions, the Commissioner said and assured that the welfare of street vendors would be the top priority.
The Commissioner urged vendors not to keep their rehries on footpaths and roads, as this causes inconvenience to pedestrians and contributes to traffic congestion. He encouraged them to install their rehries at designated places within the Municipal jurisdiction to maintain a smooth flow of traffic and public convenience.
Earlier, the Commissioner conducted an extensive tour of the Gandhi Nagar area to take stock of the pace of developmental activities being carried out in the area. He also visited the Apsara Road and took stock of the parking arrangements put in place there by the JMC. Among others, Joint Commissioner (R&E), Deputy Commissioner (South) Lal Chand and other senior officers were also present on the occasion.
