SRINAGAR: On a daily basis, incidents are unfolding within our society that cause deep distress in the hearts of every compassionate individual. Such events leave the entire human race feeling ashamed and sorrowful. The disregard for the values and principles of humanity has reached alarming levels, with people sacrificing themselves and others for petty and meaningless things, plunging into destruction.
The absence of ethical and spiritual education is, fundamentally, an undeniable reason that paves the way for all inhumane behaviors. These concerns were raised by the esteemed leader of the Islamic Caravan International, Allama Sheikh Dr. Ghulam Rasool Hami, during his address to thousands of people at the shrine of Peer Dastgir Sahib (RA) in Khanyar on the occasion of the special Friday gathering marking the Conquest of Makkah.
Allama Hami emphasized the urgent need for the current generation to receive not only modern education in various fields but also moral and spiritual training. He stated that history testifies to the fact that no nation, relying solely on material strength and resources, can achieve true progress. He further noted that parents have a significant responsibility to focus on both the physical needs of their children and, most importantly, their ethical and spiritual development.
This is vital for creating a prosperous society. He stressed that it is crucial to educate children about the pure character and teachings of the Prophet Muhammad (PBUH), his companions, and his family, and to integrate their exemplary conduct into their lives. Additionally, associating with the revered circles of saints (Awliya) and Sufis is an effective means to protect oneself from the moral decay of the present age.
Allama Hami also called on responsible and aware public groups, as well as influential governmental bodies, to take immediate and decisive action in combating the widespread issues of alcoholism and drug abuse. He urged that no complacency be tolerated in addressing this crisis and that a comprehensive plan be adopted to eliminate these harmful practices from the state.
He cautioned those promoting alcohol and drug-related businesses, warning that such actions would lead society into further moral decay and destruction, ultimately eroding the core social values. He emphasized that societal progress lies in the complete eradication of alcohol, drugs, and other harmful elements that oppose human dignity.
