JAMMU: To raise awareness and gather support for the 'One Nation One Election' initiative meetings were held in District Kathua and District Samba. District Kathua meeting was chaired by District Development Council Chairman Col Mahan Singh, while District Samba meeting was chaired by District Development Council Chairman Keshav Dutt Sharma.
On the occasion, former Deputy Mayor Jammu and BJP senior leader Baldev Singh Billawaria, who is taking forward the campaign of 'One Nation One Election' as the keynote speaker was present. Speaking on the occasion, former Deputy Mayor Jammu and BJP senior leader Baldev Singh Billawaria said that the 'One Nation One Election' meetings are being held at all district levels. He said that the local public representatives are being lision and support is being taken from them, so that all sections of the society are involved with the campaign of 'One Nation One Election'. He said that the importance of 'One Nation One Election' was emphasized in the meeting and collective efforts were encouraged for its successful implementation.
In his statement, Billawaria described the concept of "One Nation One Election" as an important pillar of the country's progress and highlighted its various dimensions. He emphasised that at a time when India is moving towards becoming the third largest economy of the world, it is important that other political parties should also support 'One Nation One Election' by re-evaluating the electoral process of the country.
He further said that other political parties should support the changes in the electoral process which will bring better results for the people and increase economic activities. He said that holding frequent elections not only hampers development work but also has a huge impact on the country's economy. Citing Election Commission data, he said that Rs 5-7 lakh crore is spent in holding elections every three years, this problem can be solved if all elections are held simultaneously. Billawaria ended his address with a positive message that 'One Nation One Election' will not only save time and money but it will also accelerate education and development.
Kathua District Development Council Chairman, Col Man Singh along with his members extended their support to the proposal of 'One Nation One Election' and said that this proposal is the need of the hour, welcoming the visionary thinking of Prime Minister Narendra Modi. Samba District Development Council Chairman, Keshav Dutt Sharma supported the proposal with his members and said that under the 'One Nation One Election' campaign, various sections of the society will be made aware of the benefits of this proposal by conducting public relations in every area. The Municipal Committee Samba & Municipal Committee Kathua members and other social organisations supported the proposal of 'One Nation One Election', the meeting concluded with the national anthem.
