• Directs holding Financial Literacy Camps across all panchayats and ULB wards

BARAMULLA: To ensure the saturation of government welfare and financial inclusion schemes at the grassroots level, Deputy Commissioner (DC) Baramulla, Minga Sherpa, today chaired a comprehensive review meeting at the DC Office here. During the review, DC was apprised about implementation status and saturation levels of various welfare schemes, with a particular emphasis on financial inclusion schemes such as Pradhan Mantri Jeevan Jyoti Bima Yojana (PMJJBY), Pradhan Mantri Suraksha Bima Yojana (PMSBY), and Pradhan Mantri Jan Dhan Yojana (PMJDY).

DC instructed all bank heads to work in close coordination with the Rural Development department (RDD) and the Social Welfare department to organise comprehensive Financial Literacy Camps (FLCs) across all 402 Panchayats and 93 Municipality Wards of the district.

These camps will serve as vital platforms to inform and enroll left-out beneficiaries under key government schemes, particularly those aimed at financial empowerment. Special attention is to be given to enhancing enrollment in schemes like PMJJBY, PMSBY, and other insurance and pension-based initiatives under the Jan Dhan umbrella.

Further, DC issued directions for the re-verification of dormant or inoperative PM-JDY accounts, and conducting KYC verification for these accounts during the proposed FLCs through the set up of Mobile Khidmat Ghar enabling real-time service delivery and account activation.

DC emphasized that the success of these schemes lies not just in numerical enrollment but in their actual impact at the community level, urging all stakeholders to work with renewed commitment and ensure no eligible beneficiary is left out. The meeting was attended by the District Social Welfare Officer, District Programme Manager NRLM, Lead Bank Manager Baramulla, and heads of all leading banks operating in the district.
