REASI: Under the visionary leadership of Chairman (also Pr. District and Sessions Judge Reasi) Khalil Choudhary and able guidance of Secretary Pooja Gupta, District Legal Services Authority, Reasi today organised a Psychiatric consultation for inmates of Sub Jail. The visit was conducted under the supervision of   Chief Legal Aid Defense Counsel (LADC) Rashi Baru and Assistant Legal Aid Defense Counsel (ALADC) Niharika Bamotra.

 Psychiatrist Dr. Anuj Sharma from Narayana Hospital, along with his team, visited Sub Jail to provide psychiatric consultation and assess the mental health condition of the inmates.  Dr. Anuj Sharma interacted with the inmates, evaluated their mental health conditions and provided necessary medical advice and counseling.

A Door to Door Campaign was conducted at Village Akhli Buttan by  PLVs of TLSC Katra  to educate senior citizens about Legal Services and Welfare Schemes. The PLVs informed senior citizens about their rights, welfare schemes and legal remedies available for them under various laws, including the Maintenance and Welfare of Parents and Senior Citizens Act.

The resource persons also highlighted the role of Legal Services Authorities in providing free legal aid, counseling and assistance to elderly persons.  To promote Bal Vivah Mukhat Bharat Campaign, Para Legal Volunteers (PLVs) in collaboration with the Social Welfare Department organised camps at different places in Mahore and Reasi.

The PLVs sensitized participants to the legal provisions related to the prohibition of child marriage, the rights of children and the social, psychological and health consequences of early marriage.

Another Awareness programme on SC/ST (Prevention of Atrocities Act) was organized in the premises of Munsiff Court Complex Mahore. The programme highlighted the objectives of Prevention of Atrocities Act which includes protection against practice of untouchability, forced labour and sexual exploitation, besides Legal Protection and Justice framework, including establishment of exclusive special courts for the speedy trial of such cases, protecting witness credibility and ensuring strict legal action against offenders. The provision for relief, rehabilitation and maintenance of victims of such atrocities was also highlighted.

Meanwhile, a review meeting to assess the working of DLSA was held at District Court Complex Reasi under the supervision of Secretary Pooja Gupta in presence of Chief LADC Rashi Baru and all ALADCs.
