JAMMU: The 649th Prakash Utsav of Sant Shiromani Shri Guru Ravi Dass Ji Maharaj was celebrated with great enthusiasm, devotion, and fervour by the Shri Guru Ravi Dass Sabha Bahu Fort Jammu at Bahu Fort, Jammu. A large number of devotees from all walks of life gathered to pay obeisance and seek blessings of the revered saint.

The programme commenced with the Aarti of Shri Guru Ravi Dass Ji Maharaj, performed by students of Sri Sai Public School Sheikh Nagar, under the guidance of Principal Mohan Lal. Students also delivered speeches and sang devotional bhajans highlighting the life, teachings, and social message of Guru Ravi Dass Ji. The participating students were later honoured for their performances.

On the occasion, senior journalists, photographers, and photojournalists known for their impartial journalism—including Ravinder Singh, Rushmi Sharma, Mohinder Jeet Singh, Sansar Singh, Gurmeet Singh Sandhu, Uttam Kumar, Rupesh Raj, and Rishi Kumar—were felicitated.

The chief guest, Ramesh Angral, Deputy Inspector General of Police, along with SSP Rakesh Sangral, Er. R C Bhasin, Er. Rajesh Kumar Augustam, Sunita Bangotra, Ashwani Kumar, and other dignitaries were honoured by the Sabha office bearers. Popular singer Sonu Hir enthralled the gathering by singing revolutionary and devotional bhajans.

Addressing the gathering, DIG Ramesh Angral congratulated devotees on the auspicious occasion and stressed the importance of education, discipline, sports, and staying away from drug addiction. He urged students to work hard and become responsible citizens.

Speaking on the occasion, Sham Lal Basson, General Secretary of the Sabha, emphasized following the teachings of Guru Ravi Dass Ji, particularly social unity, eradication of social evils, and the value of education, quoting Guru Ji’s message: “Madhi Avidhya Hitt Keen, Vivek Deep Maleel.”

A cake-cutting ceremony was also held, and prasad was distributed among devotees. The langar team headed by Monika Kalsi was honoured, while ladies participating in daily Prabhat Pheris were felicitated with shawls. Retired CEO M R Bangotra was honoured on the occasion of his silver jubilee of retirement.

President of the Sabha, Dr V K Shivgotra, congratulated all participants and extended thanks to Parshotam Lal and his team of SC/ST PNB employees for providing halwa to the sangat. He also presented a vote of thanks to all contributors and organisers. The programme concluded with community langar for all devotees, reaffirming the message of equality, service, and brotherhood taught by Shri Guru Ravi Dass Ji Maharaj.
