JAMMU: In a powerful initiative to combat the growing menace of drug abuse and trafficking in the region, 98.3 Mirchi Jammu successfully concluded its month-long awareness campaign titled “Nashabandi”, aligning with the International Day Against Drug Abuse and Illicit Trafficking.Throughout the month, the Mirchi Jammu team harnessed the power of on-air programming, digital content, street-level engagement, and ground-breaking creativity to create impactful conversations and spread awareness — especially among the youth.
The entire radio programming on Mirchi Jammu was dedicated to anti-drug messaging, including exclusive interviews with senior officials such as the Deputy Commissioner Jammu, ADC Jammu, Smart City CEO, and senior police officials, who discussed the ongoing efforts and policies to curb drug-related issues in the city. Taking the campaign online, Mirchi Jammu created a series of relatable and engaging reels that creatively highlighted the consequences of drug abuse and the importance of staying clean. A rap battle titled “Rap Against Drugs” was also organized, encouraging the youth to express their thoughts through original rap entries that spread awareness and positivity.
In collaboration with the J&K Academy of Art, Culture & Languages, students from MAM College performed a powerful nukkad natak at Bahu Plaza, dramatizing the dangers of addiction and the ripple effects of drugs on families and communities. The performance drew a large crowd and received an emotional response, especially from local youth and parents.
The campaign culminated on June 26th with a vibrant Cyclathon to mark the International Day Against Drug Trafficking. Attended by administration officials, fitness groups, students, and public personalities, the event sent out a strong message of unity and resilience in the fight against drugs.Voices from Mirchi Jammu:RJ Chaitanya, who was the part of the campaign, said:“Nashabandi was more than just a campaign — it was a people’s movement. We heard real stories, witnessed real emotions, and saw a city rise together against a dark reality.
Jammu stood tall.”RJ Tani shared,“Through reels, raps, and road shows — we connected with the youth in their language. The MAM natak, especially, struck a chord and brought tears to many eyes. It was honest and raw.”RJ Rohit, who led several youth engagement activities, added,“As RJs, we hold a mic — but during Nashabandi, that mic became a weapon against silence. From studios to streets, we saw Jammu speak up louder than ever before.”With “Nashabandi”, 98.3 Mirchi Jammu reaffirmed its role as more than just an entertainment station — but a socially responsible voice for positive change.
