KISHTWAR: In a landmark effort to strengthen tribal empowerment and ensure inclusive development, the district administration organized an awareness and benefits saturation camp in Block Headquarter Inderwal, Panchayat Lower Chatroo-C, District Kishtwar under Dharti Aaba Janjatiya Gramin Utkarsh Abhiyan (DAJGUA). This initiative, part of DAJGUAâs ongoing district-wide campaign, drew enthusiastic participation from the tribal community and marked a significant step in bridging governance and grassroots engagement.
Centered on Information, Education and Communication (IEC), the camp served as a one-stop platform to raise awareness and facilitate access to a wide array of government schemes tailored to tribal welfare. Key departments including Health, Jal Shakti, Agriculture, Education, ICDS, Employment, Rural Development, JPDCL and FCS&CAâestablished interactive stalls offering on-the-spot assistance with registrations, application processes and benefit disbursals. Many services were delivered in local dialects to ensure clarity and inclusiveness.
Special health check-ups were conducted for tribal residents, addressing immediate medical needs and extending basic healthcare to remote populations. A Gram Sabha was also convened during the camp, fostering meaningful dialogue on community priorities. Participants actively discussed local issues, passed resolutions and reinforced the role of grassroots governance in the development process.
A key highlight of the event was the detailed and well-explained information shared about the benefits of installation of the PM Surya Ghar Muft Bijli Yojana, which was provided to tribal residents as well as other participants. Local residents and tribal elders expressed deep appreciation for the administrationâs outreach efforts, noting that such initiatives are vital in regions where access to essential services has traditionally been limited. The event was attended by BDO Inderwal Hitesh Loona besides other senior officers and concerned staff.
