BANDIPORA: Department of Handicrafts & Handloom Bandipora, on Saturday organised a mega awareness programme at Dawar, Gurez with an objective of sensitising the artisan and weaver community about the various government schemes and services available through the department.
The programme was inaugurated by Joint Director Handicrafts Kashmir, Parvaiz Sajad, along with General Manager, District Industries Centre Bandipora, Sameer Ahmad Jan, who is also holding the additional charge of Assistant Director, Handicrafts/Handloom Department Bandipora.
The event was attended by a large number of artisans and weavers across the Gurez valley. As part of the programme, departmental stalls were set up to exhibit products crafted by registered artisans and weavers of Gurez valley, while also disseminating information about schemes aimed at their welfare and socio-economic upliftment.
On the occasion, Joint Director inspected stalls and interacted with artisans, appreciating their craftsmanship and commitment for preserving the rich cultural heritage of the region. He reaffirmed that the department is committed to empowering artisans through capacity-building initiatives, financial support, and enhanced market connectivity.
AD Handicrafts encouraged unregistered artisans and weavers to promptly register online for Artisan and Weaver Registration Cards to become eligible for a wide range of departmental benefits and welfare schemes. Officials of H&H department on the occasion, highlighted the range of schemes and welfare initiatives available to support artisans and weavers.
