REASI: The District Legal Services Authority Reasi conducted a series of awareness programmes across the district through Para Legal Volunteers (PLVs). The events were held under the guidance of Chairman, District Legal Services Authority, Reasi (also Principal District and Sessions Judge) Khalil Choudhary and Secretary DLSA Reasi Pooja Gupta.
PLVs of TLSC Mahore conducted a programme on flood safety, sensitising residents of flood-prone areas about precautionary measures including heeding weather advisories, moving to safer locations, avoiding flooded roads and streams, keeping emergency supplies ready and contacting authorities in emergencies. The PLVs also highlighted the role of Legal Services Institutions in extending legal aid to flood-affected persons.
PLVs of TLSC Katra organised a programme on road safety at Panchayat Akhli, educating participants about wearing helmets, using seat belts, avoiding over-speeding, refraining from mobile phone use while driving, obeying traffic signals and the legal consequences of violations.
Two separate programmes on social welfare schemes were held at Legal Aid Clinic Kunderdhan and Legal Aid Clinic Channa Neosi by PLVs of TLSC Mahore. Participants were informed about welfare schemes launched by the Central and UT Governments for economically weaker sections, women, senior citizens, persons with disabilities, widows and other vulnerable groups, along with eligibility criteria, benefits and application procedures.
A programme on NALSA Schemes was organised at Gram Geeta Nagar Reasi, informing residents about their right to free legal aid, the functioning of Lok Adalats and Legal Aid Clinics and the availability of legal assistance for women, children, senior citizens, persons with disabilities, victims of trafficking and disasters and other eligible sections. Information on the NALSA Helpline was also disseminated.
