JAMMU: The Central University of Jammu has officially launched the implementation phase of the Sustainable Campus Development and Performance Management (SCDPM) 4.0 initiative, following a comprehensive preparatory period that began in August. This crucial phase, mandated by the Ministry of Education, Department of Higher Education, will run from 2nd October to 31st October 2024.
During the preparatory phase, the university focused on establishing vermicomposting and vermiwash systems, laying the groundwork for a sustainable waste management strategy. Approximately 32 kgs of vermicompost was obtained till 17th October 2024. During the implementation phase, vermicompost was sold at Rs 30/Kg. This initiative aligns with the university's commitment to environmental sustainability and ecological balance.The implementation phase is being spearheaded by Nodal Officer Prof. Richa Kothari, with coordination efforts led by Lt. Dr. Pankaj Mehta, Dr. Dinesh Kumar and Dr. Ankit Tandon. Together, they aim to ensure a smooth transition into this vital phase of the SCDPM initiative.
Prof. Sanjeev Jain, Hon’ble vice Chancellor, Central university of Jammu congratulated the entire team involved in this project. “This initiative not only enhances our campus sustainability but also sets a benchmark for other institutions to follow,” he stated.
The university is optimistic that the SCDPM 4.0 implementation will contribute significantly to its sustainability goals and foster a greener campus environment. As the month progresses, stakeholders will continue to monitor and evaluate the outcomes of this significant initiative.
