JAMMU: Dr. Ritu Gupta foundation in collaboration with Acharya Shri Chander College of Medical Sciences and Hospital organized THIRD Dr. Ritu Gupta Lecture which was attended by a large number of faculty, staff and students from various Medical and Dental Colleges of Jammu province. The members of Dr. Ritu Gupta Foundation were also present on the occasion.
The function was inaugurated by Dr. Syed Abid Rasheed Shah, IAS, Administrative Secretary, Health & Medical Education Department, Govt.of Jammu & Kashmir who was also the Chief Guest on the occasion. Dr. Gautam Mengi, Joint Secretary ASCOMS. The Guest Speakers on the occasion were Brig. (Dr) Faiz Ahmed, Neurologist & Commandant, 166 Military Hospital, Jammu and Dr. Samir Dalwai, Developmental Paediatrician, from Mumbai, Maharashtra. Brig. (Dr) Faiz Ahmed delivered the lecture on the Brain: The final Frontier. He elaborated on physiology of brain in various functions of body.
He also quoted about the survivor of a rabies patient. Another guest speaker Dr. Samir Dalwai delivered a lecture on “Mile Sur Mera Tumhara:”Human Engagement Powers Learning. Dr Samir explained about usage of smart mobile devices by small children. He deliberated how parents felt proud in giving smart devices to their children. He told various ways of digital fasting. Both the guest speakers have also resolved the queries of the audience.
Dr. Ravinder K. Gupta, Prof & HOD Paediatrics & Chairman, Dr. Ritu Gupta Foundation while speaking on the occasion explained about various activities to be initiated by the foundation for the benefit of common masses.. Dr. Ritu Gupta’s Eyes were donated immediately after her death and transplanted to two needy persons who were visually handicapped. Dr. Gupta highlighted the importance of organ donation and he requested the public to come forward for organ donation.
He also highlighted the work of Dr. Ritu Gupta Foundation in defusing knowledge in medical education, scientific research and promotion of healthcare are also felicitating the toppers of physiology every year. A documentary about the life of Dr. Ritu Gupta was presented by Dr. Vanita Sharma. Prof & HOD, Physiology, GMC, Jammu which made the audience very emotional.
Dr. Pavan Malhotra, Director Principal ASCOMS highlighted the importance of academic activities in medical curriculum and also spoke on the organizational capabilities of Dr. Ritu Gupta and her love for academic activities. He described Dr. Ritu Gupta as epitome of humbleness and passionate towards Medical Teaching.
Dr. Syed Abid Rasheed Shah, IAS, Chief Guest on the occasion appreciated the efforts of Dr. Ritu Gupta, foundation and ASCOMS. He described that such type of academic activities are important for academic development of student and to keep the name alive in academic circle for which Dr. Ritu Gupta, was known for her academic bent of mind. He complimented both the speakers for their wonderful presentation and suggested that more such events where different Medical and Dental Colleges can participate should be organized.
On the occasion, Dr. Guatam Mengi, Dr. Pavan Malhotra, Dr. Ravinder K Gupta, Mr. Suresh Jandial and Mrs. Ritu Mahajan felicitated the toppers in the subject of Physiology of the different Medical /Dental colleges of Jammu province namely Ms Somya Gupta, Ms. Bharti Sharma & Ms. Ojas Suri from ASCOMS, Ms. Ayra Gulzar & Ms Ashna Mahajan from GMC Jammu, Ms. Simriti Sharma & MS. Sarasvati Atri, GMC Doda, Ms. Monisha, GMC Rajouri, Ms Tamana Verma & MS Mehvish Ellahi, GMC Kathua, Mr Ali Abbas, GMC Udhampur, Mr. Anshul, GDC Jammu, Mr. Sameer Ahmed Dar, IDS Seora and Ms Diyaa Gupta, AIIMS Vijaypur
Mr. Suresh Jandial, former Executive Director (ONGC) and brother-in-law highlighted the importance of organ donation as the same has been done by Dr. Ritu Gupta and he presented the vote of thanks in the end.
