JAMMU: Puneet Mahajan, Convener of the BJP Health and Medical Cell, Jammu & Kashmir, held a significant interaction with noted social activist Sandhya Dhar at the Convener Office, Talab Tillo, Jammu.

Sandhya Dhar, a wheelchair-bound activist living with cerebral palsy and a Kashmiri migrant from Gangyal, is the Founder of JIGER (Jammu Institute of General Education and Rehabilitation Foundation). The institution provides vital educational and rehabilitative services to underprivileged and specially-abled children across Jammu, and stands as a symbol of inclusive education and social upliftment.

During the meeting, Sandhya Dhar advocated for 100% coverage under the Ayushman Bharat Scheme for specially-abled individuals, including doorstep registration and delivery of health services to alleviate the challenges faced by differently-abled citizens.

Puneet Mahajan appreciated her tireless dedication and courage in serving society despite personal challenges. He assured that the BJP Health and Medical Cell is steadfast in its mission to expand Ayushman Bharat coverage to every eligible specially-abled person across Jammu & Kashmir. He further committed to initiating door-to-door registration drives for specially-abled beneficiaries and ensuring they receive continuous support under the scheme.

Puneet Mahajan said The Narendra Modi Government is deeply committed to strengthening the healthcare system of our nation. With the visionary goal of Swasth Bharat, Samriddh Bharat, the government has launched numerous initiatives to ensure accessible, affordable, and quality healthcare for all. Flagship schemes like Ayushman Bharat – the world’s largest health assurance program – are transforming lives by providing free treatment to millions of underprivileged families. Investments in AIIMS, district hospitals, wellness centres, and digital health infrastructure reflect the government’s resolve to build a robust healthcare ecosystem. Special attention is being given to rural and remote areas, ensuring that no citizen is left behind in the journey toward a healthier and prosperous India.

“Sandhya Dhar’s inspiring journey and her call for inclusive policies resonate with the Narendra Modi Government vision of equitable healthcare access for all,” said Puneet Mahajan. “Her efforts remind us of the urgent need to bring systemic change for the disabled community.”

The BJP Health and Medical Cell reiterates its unwavering commitment to building a compassionate, accessible, and inclusive healthcare system, ensuring that no one is left behind — especially the specially-abled population of the Union Territory.
