KUPWARA: Government Medical College (GMC) Handwara today organized the valedictory function of the week long Cultural festival titled Synapse-24 to mark the celebration of its establishment. Deputy Commissioner (DC) Kupwara, Ayushi Sudan was chief guest at the function.
The event also witnessed the participation of various dignitaries including Chairman DDC Kupwara, Irfan Sultan Pandithpori; SSP Handwara, Mushtaq Ahmed Choudhary; Prof. Dr. Mushtaq Ahmad Chalkoo and Prof. Dr. Sheikh Mushtaq of GMC Srinagar; DDCs of Mawar, Rajwar and Drugmulla.
Faculty of GMC, staff, besides, students in large number were present at the event. The event was organised under the chairmanship of Principal GMC Handwara, Prof. Dr. Khurshid Ahmed Wani.
Addressing the function, the DC said it is a big achievement that the GMC Handwara has presently the strength of 200 students, which was a dream a few years back.
While congratulating all the stakeholders for their active support in successful establishment of the Medical College, she said that the public service delivery will get improved at the District Hospital as well as the quality education will take great leaps in the future.
She appreciated the College students for conduct of the programme in a well organized manner and said that it is the huge testament of the spirit of this institution and hoped that it will continue to grow in future.
The function which was first ever event of its kind, saw vibrant participation of students and artists who presented diverse performances in multilingual mode including poetry, dance, songs, drama, gazals, mushaira and skits highlighting the richness of local culture and traditions. During the event, the winners of the events were also felicitated by the dignitaries.
