GANDERBAL: The Department of Sankalp Hub for Empowerment of Women, Mission Shakti Ganderbal, celebrated International Women’s Day (IWD) with a grand event held at the auditorium of Government Boys Higher Secondary School (GBHSS) Duderhama, Ganderbal.
Deputy Commissioner (DC) Ganderbal, Jatin Kishore, presided over the event and emphasized the need to achieve gender equality and raise awareness about women’s rights. He highlighted the government’s commitment to women empowerment, ensuring equal opportunities for women through various women-centric initiatives.
The DC stressed that real empowerment comes with a change in societal attitudes towards women. He urged collective efforts from all sections of society to create an environment where women can thrive in all aspects of life. District Mission Coordinator of Sankalp Hub also spoke on the occasion emphasizing the pivotal role of women in societal development.
As a mark of recognition and encouragement, the DC felicitated outstanding female achievers, including NEET qualifiers and meritorious students from the 10th, 11th, and 12th grades, applauding their academic excellence. Women entrepreneurs who have made significant strides in their respective fields were also honored.
The event served as a platform to acknowledge the contributions of women across diverse sectors, reinforcing the district’s dedication to fostering gender equality and celebrating women's achievements. The program witnessed the participation of key officials, including the District Programme Officer, Chief Education Officer, District Social Welfare Officer, ICDS workers, ASHAs, and other stakeholders committed to women's empowerment.
