POONCH: District Hospital Poonch organised a special awareness programme on the International Day Against Drug Abuse and Illicit Trafficking to educate people about the harmful effects of substance abuse.
The programme was organised by the staff of the Addiction Treatment Facility in the OPD section, with participation from doctors, paramedical staff, ATF personnel and patients' attendants.
ATF patients received psychoeducation on the ill effects of drug abuse, with speakers emphasising treatment adherence, sustained recovery and a healthy lifestyle. Medical Superintendent Dr Mohd Shafeeq urged patients to remain committed to their treatment and make positive lifestyle changes to overcome addiction. Trained instructors from the AYUSH Department conducted a yoga session on the role of yoga in improving mental and physical well-being.
The programme was held under the directions of Mission Director National Health Mission J&K Akrti Sagar, Deputy Commissioner Poonch Ashok Kumar Sharma and Director Health Services Jammu Dr Poonam Sethi, under the guidance of Chief Medical Officer Poonch Dr Parvaiz Ahmed Khan and under the supervision of Medical Superintendent District Hospital Poonch Dr Mohd Shafeeq.
