HANDWARA: As part of its continuous efforts to strengthen community ties and enhance legal awareness, Police in Handwara organized Lok Darbar-cum-awareness programmes across all Police Stations and Police Posts under Police District Handwara. The initiative focused on resolving public grievances and educating citizens about the newly introduced Criminal Laws. Conducted at multiple locations, the programmes aimed at ensuring inclusive participation and maximum outreach.
During these interactive sessions, senior police officers engaged directly with the public, addressed concerns related to policing, and provided on-the-spot redressal where feasible. Issues outside police jurisdiction were documented and assured to be taken up with the relevant departments for necessary action.
As part of the awareness drive, officers presented the key highlights of the New Criminal Laws, emphasizing their relevance in daily life. The sessions encouraged active public participation, with attendees asking questions and seeking clarifications to better understand the legal reforms.
The initiative was well-received by the public, who appreciated the police's proactive approach and pledged cooperation in tackling social issues, especially drug abuse and other social evils. This outreach reflects J&K Police's commitment to community-oriented policing, transparency, and building a legally informed and responsible society.
