JAMMU: Mission Statehood workers held a powerful protest rally demanding the restoration of the Dogra state of Jammu and Kashmir, special status under Article 370, reinstatement of the PRC (Permanent Resident Certificate) state subject system, and resumption of the traditional Darbar Move starting this April.
Addressing the protesters, Mission Statehood President Sunil Dimple reiterated the demand to restore the Dogra state of Jammu and Kashmir, reinstate special status and Article 370, reintroduce the PRC system, and resume the biannual Darbar Move.
Dimple called upon Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Home Minister Amit Shah to fulfill their promises regarding the restoration of Jammu and Kashmir’s statehood and to implement the Supreme Court’s directives for the same.
He also accused the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) of engaging in conspiracies involving "horse-trading" and manipulation of MLAs. Dimple criticized former intelligence officer A.S. Dulat, alleging that he is creating confusion and psychological distractions at the behest of the BJP, thereby weakening the ongoing struggle for the state’s restoration and special status.
He further alleged that Dulat is using the name of Dr. Farooq Abdullah to promote his book and mislead the public, while the BJP is continuing its attempts to alter the political landscape through backdoor deals.
Dimple emphasized the urgent need to restart the Darbar Move from April, citing heavy financial losses suffered by business communities due to its suspension. He urged Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha and the prospective Chief Minister to use their influence to push for the restoration of the Dogra princely state along with its special constitutional safeguards and the implementation of the original Instrument of Accession.
He also demanded the unification of Jammu, Kashmir, Ladakh, Pakistan-Occupied Kashmir (PoK), and Gilgit-Baltistan under the Jammu and Kashmir state as per historical claims.
In a serious allegation, Dimple claimed the government has issued over 84,000 domicile certificates to non-residents in an attempt to alter the demographic makeup of the Dogra region. He further alleged that lakhs of kanal of land have been allocated to around 200 outside investors for business activities, and according to one survey, nearly five lakh non-residents have settled in the region post the abrogation of Article 370.
Prominent leaders who joined the protest included Mohinder Kumar, Sudesh Kumar, Tarsem Lal, Mohan Lal, Sachin Soi, Sat Sharma, Rupesh Bhat, Anmol Anand, Sanjay Kumar, among many others.
