HANDWARA & ANANTNAG: In an effort to promote a healthy and drug-free lifestyle, police organises Volleyball and Badminton Tournaments in Handwara & Anantnag. In Handwara, Police organized a volleyball tournament under the Nasha Mukt Bharat Abhiyaan at District Police Lines Handwara. The initiative aims to raise awareness about the dangers of drug addiction while encouraging youth to engage in positive activities like sports. The tournament witnessed enthusiastic participation from several local teams, including a police team. The event was attended by senior police officials, local dignitaries, and community members, all of whom praised the initiative.
Speaking on the occasion, ASP Handwara, Shri Zaffar Iqbal (JKPS), highlighted the significance of such programs in shaping a brighter future for the youth. “Sports not only build discipline and teamwork but also serve as a powerful tool in keeping young minds away from harmful influences,” he said. At the conclusion of the tournament, winning teams were awarded trophies and certificates, while all participants took a pledge to support the fight against drug abuse.
In Anantnag, Police successfully organized a Badminton Tournament under Civic Action Program 2024-25 at DPL Anantnag. Four teams participated in the tournament, showcasing remarkable talent and competitive spirit. The final match was played between GDC Uttrasoo and GDC Dooru, in which GDC Dooru emerged victorious. The event concluded with a prize distribution ceremony, where DySP DAR DPL Anantnag, Shri Aijaz Ahmad, felicitated the winners and participants with trophies. Police remains committed to fostering positive community interactions and encouraging youth participation in sports.
