BANDIPORA: World Oral Health Day was celebrated with enthusiasm at District Hospital Bandipora, where a series of awareness programs and activities were conducted to highlight the importance of oral hygiene and dental care.
Dr. Masrat Iqbal Wani, Medical Superintendent of District Hospital Bandipora, emphasized the significance of maintaining good oral health for overall well-being. He highlighted that oral diseases, if left untreated, can lead to severe health complications and stressed the importance of regular dental check-ups, proper brushing techniques, and a balanced diet.
“The health of the mouth is a window to the overall health of the body. Educating people about oral hygiene is crucial in preventing dental problems and related health issues,” Dr. Wani said.
This year’s theme, “A Happy Mouth is a Happy Body,” was highlighted to encourage people to adopt healthier oral habits and understand the connection between oral health and overall health.
The event witnessed active participation from doctors, paramedical staff, and the general public. Dental experts conducted free dental check-ups and offered advice on maintaining good oral hygiene. Awareness sessions were also organized to educate people, especially children, about the importance of brushing, flossing, and reducing sugar intake to prevent cavities and gum diseases.
Participants appreciated the efforts of the hospital administration in organizing the event and expressed hope that such initiatives would be conducted regularly to promote awareness about oral health in the community.
