JAMMU: A deputation of Residents' Welfare Committee led by its President S. Harbans Singh called on Arvind Gupta, MLA, Jammu West and apprised him of continuous neglect of this area in the matter of development as it has remained deprived of even the basic amenity of a drainage system as none was ever constructed due to indifference and lop sided development approach of the selected areas inhabited by favorites with right connections.
Hon'ble MLA was apprised that the residents has been actively pursuing this issue since last assembly elections held in 2014 but so far nothing has been done in this regards except framing of DPR which awaits approval and release of funds. Numerous deputations, has met the authorities and submitted nth no of representations from corporator, MLA, Municipal Commissioner, Mayor JMC and even grievance has been lodged with PMO and LG but the approval and sanction has not been granted so far.
Hon'ble MLA was requested to use his good offices and get The proposal approved and funds released to get the drainage work executed the proposal for which was submitted to the office of Joint Commissioner (Works) JMC vide no:- JMC/D-III/1605-06 dated 04.08.2022 and resubmitted under the head UIDF vide no :- JMC/D-III/5904-06 dated 06.01.2024. This information was provided by the Executive Engineer JMC Division No-III in compliance to the decision of Hon'ble Chief Information Commissioner dated 22.01.2024 vide his office No JMC/D-III/6341-42 dated 12/02/2024.
The MLA was requested to revisit the locality along with concerned officials at the earliest and get the DPR revised to rid the residents of water logging in the lane from the house of S. Hakoomat Singh to Puran Chand which has been closed due to new construction and the residents face the threat of rain water entering their houses as the slope is from North to South shere rain water of the entire street accumulates. The deputation comprised of Rattan Lal Thussu, D. K. Raina and Arun Jandial, coordinator. Dr Jatinder Gupta and Advocate Rajesh Gupta also accompanied the deputation.
