SHOPIAN: As part of the Beti Bachao Beti Padhao (BBBP) initiative, Sankalp Hub for Empowerment of Women (SHEW) Shopian, in collaboration with Industrial Training Institute (ITI), Shopian today established a new Cutting and Tailoring Centre in Chek Shamsipora village of the district. This centre located in the ST area, aims to equip local women and young girls with essential vocational skills, empowering them to achieve economic independence and self-sufficiency.
This newly established training centre provides professional instruction in cutting and tailoring, bringing valuable skills directly to a community that previously had limited access to such opportunities. The local community has warmly welcomed this initiative, with participants expressing deep appreciation for this empowering step. âWe are truly grateful to have such a centre in our village,â shared one young participant. âIt gives us the chance to build skills that can support our families and our future, all within reach of our own homes,â said another participant.
This project under BBBP aligns with the mission of SHEW to uplift women in underserved regions, providing them with tools for sustainable livelihood and community development. Inspired by the overwhelming support and enthusiasm of the local population, SHEW and ITI are considering additional programs to expand vocational training opportunities, reinforcing their commitment to making a lasting impact on womenâs empowerment and community resilience.
