JAMMU: Central University of Jammu today celebrated Lohri with great enthusiasm as Vice Chancellor Prof. Sanjeev Jain joined the University fraternity for the occasion. Prof. Jain ceremoniously lit the Lohri bonfire, accompanied by Registrar Prof, Yashwant Singh, Deans, HoD’s and Officials were present. The event was inaugurated by HVC Prof. Sanjeev Jain, who extended warm wishes to all employees and their families, emphasising the role of such events in fostering unity and belonging within the university community.
The Office of Students Welfare (DSW) at Central University of Jammu marked the joyous occasion of Lohri Festival symbolizing the end of winter and the arrival of the harvest season. The celebrations were held at the university’s open grounds, where participants enjoyed a cultural extravaganza featuring traditional songs, dance performances, and the lighting of a bonfire, a key ritual of the festival. A variety of traditional snacks, including til (sesame) and jaggery, peanuts, and other sweets, were distributed among the attendees. Students enthusiastically performed the traditional Bhangra dance form around the bonfire, showcasing the rich cultural heritage.
