UDHAMPUR: Deputy Commissioner Udhampur, Saloni Rai, convened a meeting with officers from different departments to review and enhance road safety measures in the district. Threadbare discussions were held on different aspects such as the enforcement of traffic rules, identification of black spots, road safety audits, minimizing road accidents, road maintenance, and curbing violations like overloading, over speeding and rash driving, traffic decongestion on busy routes, installation of signage and conducting awareness programs to promote road safety.
During the meeting, the Deputy Commissioner was informed that several black spots have been identified and remedial actions were underway by the concerned departments. To prevent accidents, the Executive Engineers PWD and PMGSY were directed to ensure regular road maintenance. The Traffic Police were instructed to work in coordination with the local police to regulate traffic flow, reduce congestion, and curb overloading for the convenience of commuters.
Emphasizing the importance of public awareness, the DC called for expanding campaigns on road safety rules and stressed the need for stricter enforcement of traffic regulations. The MVD and traffic authorities were urged to take stern action against violators and impose penalties for offenses such as overloading, driving without helmets and over speeding. The Deputy Commissioner reiterated the administration's commitment to ensuring safer roads for all citizens through coordinated efforts and effective measures.
