• DDC instructs for increasing advances under Priority sector, organising result oriented financial outreach camps

SHOPIAN: A District Level Review Committee cum District Consultative Committee (DLRC/DCC) meeting for Quarter 2nd ended September 30, 2024 of FY 2024-25 of district was held today at Mini Secretariat, Shopian to review the performance of financial institutions and line departments. The meeting was chaired by District Development Commissioner (DDC) Shopian, Mohammad Shahid Saleem Dar.

Lead District Manager, Farooq Ahmad Dar at the outset presented the achievements of the district in deposits & advances, priority & non priority sector advances and CD Ratio. The DDC took bank wise and department wise reviews of financial and physical performance against the targets of lending for self employment, livelihood generation and social security schemes.

Progress under key government schemes like PMEGP, KCC, Mission Youth, JKREGP, Svandhi, SUI and Social Security schemes was undertaken on the occasion comprehensively.

The DDC took serious note of the decreasing trend of priority sector advances and asked for enhancing the priority sector lending in poor performance sectors of agriculture infrastructure, education, export credit, renewable energy and Social infrastructure and asked them to speed up lending by next review meeting.

Banks were instructed to set targets, branch wise for sponsorship of employment/ livelihood schemes and Social security schemes. Branch wise targets may be fixed for sponsorship of cases under these schemes and monthly review to be done to enhance the achievements, said Shahid on the occasion while reviewing the department wise sponsorship cases.

He also called for organising the result oriented awareness and outreach camps across the district for motivating the eligible youth for enrollment. Earlier, MLA Shopian, Shabir Ahmad Kullay also graced the meeting as a special invitee and asked for enhancing the performance of banks and sponsorship departments in agriculture, horticulture and self employment generation schemes.

ADDC, Dr Nasir Ahmad Lone, emphasized the need to conduct financial literacy and registration camps by the banks. Branch wise and collaborative events with GDCs and School education stressed. On the occasion, DLRAC District Level RSETI Advisory Committee Meeting was also presented by Director RSETI Shopian, Nazir Ahmed Bandh for the half yearly Target of the institute.

Against the half yearly target of 500 candidates, 588 candidates have been imparted training by the institute in different trade sectors. Out of this, 42% candidates who got training have been settled and 28% have been provided Credited linkage by different banks.

The meeting was attended by various district officers of line departments, Cluster Head, J&K Bank, DDM NABARD, representatives of other banks and financial institutions.
