BARAMULLA: The Central Integrated Pest Management Centre (CIPMC), Srinagar, in collaboration with the State Agriculture Department, Kreeri, Baramulla Thursday organized a ‘Farmers Field Day Programme’ at AEO Office, Block Kreeri. The event aimed at empowering local farmers with sustainable agricultural practices.
Dr. Yaqoob Hassan Dar, Agriculture Extension Officer (AEO) Kreeri emphasized the importance of organic farming in enhancing agricultural productivity while preserving soil health. He highlighted how organic methods contribute to the long-term welfare of both farmers and consumers by reducing reliance on synthetic chemicals and promoting eco-friendly farming practices.
Assistant Plant Protection Officer (PP) provided an in-depth lecture on Integrated Pest Management (IPM) techniques. His session included valuable information on implementing the National Pest Surveillance System, a critical tool in monitoring and managing pest populations efficiently and sustainably. He emphasized the benefits of IPM for pest control and encouraged farmers to adopt these strategies to improve crop health and yield.
Meanwhile, IPM kits were distributed among the farmers on the occasion. The programme concluded with a practical demonstration of IPM techniques and interactive sessions with farmers to address their queries and concerns.
