SRINAGAR: The Jammu and Kashmir Students Association on Wednesday has expressed gratitude to Rajasthan Chief Minister Bhajan Lal Sharma and Jammu and Kashmir Chief Minister Omar Abdullah for their timely interventions, which led to the revocation of the suspension of 35 Kashmiri students at Mewar University.
In a Statement National Convenor of Association Nasir Khuehami said that, the suspension, which had put the academic futures of these students at risk, has now been lifted and revoked, allowing them to continue their education without disruption.Khuehami, confirmed, âMewar University has just revoked the suspension order of 35 Kashmiri students on the advice of the Rajasthan government.
We are deeply thankful to Rajasthan CM Bhajanlal Sharma for his prompt intervention. His support in safeguarding the academic futures of these students is greatly appreciated. We will continue to ensure that their educational journey remains uninterrupted.âKhuehami also expressed his gratitude to Jammu and Kashmir Chief Minister Omar Abdullah, and his Advisor Nasir Aslam Wani.
âWe are thankful to Advisor Nasir Wani, and MLA Waheed Parra for promptly raising the issue and escalating it at a larger level, ensuring a quick resolution for the students,â he said.He asserted that the Association had raised the issue with the Chief Minister's Advisor, Nasir Aslam Wani, who expressed deep concern and reiterated the governmentâs commitment to safeguarding the academic future of these students.
The Association also raised the matter with the office of Rajasthan Chief Minister Bhanjan Lal Sharma, including his media advisor, private secretary, principal secretary, and other officials. In response to our requests, both the Rajasthan government and the J&K government assured their support. The J&K government further stated that they would closely monitor the situation to ensure the studentsâ rights and futures are protected. However, Khuehami emphasized a broader concern regarding the universityâs lack of approvals and recognition.
âItâs truly a relief that the suspension issue has been resolved. However, the real issue is the lack of approval and recognition. The university is not approved by the RNC (Regional Nursing Council) and the INC (Indian Nursing Council). The absence of these approvals jeopardizes the academic future of Kashmiri students.âHe urged Jammu and Kashmir Chief Minister Omar Abdullah to intervene immediately and raise this matter with the concerned government authorities. âI request the Chief Minister to act swiftly and ensure these students do not lose their precious academic careers due to the university's negligence.
These young students are in desperate need of support, and your timely intervention can help restore their hopes for a secure future,â he added.Khuehami expressed confidence in the popular and elected government, stating, âWe have faith that the government will take the concerns of Kashmiri students in mainland India seriously and prioritize their redressal. These students cannot be left in limbo. Their future must be protected.âHe further noted that the demands of the students are straightforward: âEither transfer them to a recognized college or immediately secure the necessary approvals for the B.Sc. Nursing program without causing any loss to their academic progress.â
