SRINAGAR: An important meeting of the Mechanical Irrigation Employees Federation was held under the chairmanship of District Srinagar President Bilal Ahmad Bhat. The meeting extensively discussed various departmental issues, with a special focus on the shortage of field staff. The union made a strong appeal to the Chief Engineer, Irrigation and Flood Control Kashmir, Engineer B.J. Sharma, and the SE Mechanical Irrigation to immediately deploy the existing office staff to field stations in the Srinagar division to ensure timely public services and improve overall work efficiency.
The federation emphasized that all pending works should be completed before the start of the upcoming season to avoid unnecessary problems like those faced last year. Furthermore, a strong demand was raised for the regularization of daily wagers, need-based, and seasonal employees to enable them to serve more effectively. Chairman of Mechanical Irrigation Employees Federation and Vice President EJAC, Farooq Ahmad Khan, joined the meeting telephonically, stressing that improving work culture is essential and cannot be compromised under any circumstances. He stated that employees who draw salaries are obligated to perform their duties with honesty and responsibility.
District President Srinagar, Bilal Ahmad Bhat, also appealed to the Chief Engineer and SE to initiate an inquiry against employees who remain in offices and neglect their field responsibilities. He added that if every employee performs their duty diligently, there would be no major issues during the season. During the meeting, a special prayer was offered for the departed souls of Ghulam Rasool Magrey’s mother and Jan.
Other officials who attended the meeting included General Secretary Farooq Ahmad Khan Shalmari, Vice President Naseer Ahmad Nahvi, Press Secretary Shabir Ahmad Khan, Farooq Ahmad Lone, Ghulam Rasool Bhat, Meraj Ud Din, Farooq Ahmad Magrey, and Ghulam Mohi Ud Din Khan. In conclusion, the federation expressed gratitude to Farooq Ahmad Khan for his relentless efforts in highlighting employees’ rights and issues. The union reaffirmed its commitment to continue working for the welfare of the employees in the future.
