JAMMU: Condemning the anti-SC, anti-ST and anti-reservation stand of Kashmir centric politicians and parties BJP spokesperson and former MLC Girdhari Lal Raina has reacted sharply to orchestrated misinformation campaign against reservation policy. These parties resort to peddling lies and half-truths to appease a sectarian constituency, he added.
GL Raina outrightly rejected claims that 70 percent of the population does not have access to these jobs as baseless, provocative and misleading. This is a political witch hunt as SCs and STs did not vote for these parties including National Conference in recent elections, Raina asserted.
Why are you mixing horizontal and vertical reservations? Are you saying Persons with Disabilities or wards of Police and security personnel must not be given the meagre reservation that constitution gives them or are you against reservation to people living on IB and LoC, he asked.
BJP spokesperson stated that there was no change in overall quota provided in Jammu Kashmir prior to 2019. There has been just rationalization of reservation by shifting population to ST 2 category and reducing Backward Area quota from 20 percent to 10 percent in view of this shift, Raina explained
Similarly, the OBC population that gets reservation automatically gets reduced from the total population competing for open merit category. If there is anything unjustified in reservation policy of Jammu Kashmir it is continued backwardness of certain areas because of the misrule of these parties for around seven decades.
How do you justify backwardness of areas in same breath in which you claim Jammu Kashmir was better off prior to the 2019 historic decision, he asked? GL Raina assured these disadvantaged sections of population about BJPâs principled stand on reservations. No one will be allowed to tamper with the constitutional right of SCs and STs or Disabled sections of population.
