SRINAGAR: Continuing its unwavering efforts to eradicate the menace of drugs from the society. Police in Kulgam arrested a drug peddler and recovered contraband substance from his possession. A specific checkpoint established at Chawalgam Sangus Bypass by Police Party of Police Station Kulgam and during checking one person after noticing the police party tried to flee from the spot. However, he was chased and apprehended tactfully.
After search, 14 grams of Brown Sugar like contraband substances were recovered from his possession. He has been identified as Aqib Bashir Lone son of Bashir Ahmad Loan resident of Vesbatpora.
Accordingly, a case vide FIR No. 164/2024 under section of law has been registered in Police Station Kulgam and investigation has been initiated. Community members are requested to come forward with any information regarding drug peddling in their neighbourhood. Persons found indulging in drug peddling will be dealt as per law. Our consistent actions against drug peddlers should reassure the community members that we are making efforts to keep our society free from the scourge of drug menace.
