SRINAGAR: Police organized an awareness programmes on three new criminal laws in Budgam and Shopian districts. In Budgam the programme was organised at Spring Buds Educational Institute Ompora Budgam. This program aimed to enlighten the faculty, staff and students about the latest developments in the Indian legal framework. The laws discussed include Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita, Bharatiya Nagarik Suraksha Sanhita, and Bharatiya Sakshya Adhiniyam. The programme was chaired by Shri Sumit Kumar Sharma -JKPS, Dy.SP DAR Budgam along with Inspr. Muzamil Ahmad RI DPL and was attended by Principal, teachings staff and students of the institution.
In Shopian, the awareness programme was conducted at Cambridge School Tukroo Shopian. On the occasion, SP Hqrs Shopian, Sr. PO Shopian and IC Police Post Keegam spoke on length about the new laws. The initiative aimed to educate the students and other populace about enactment of new criminal laws, ensuring awareness and compliance with the updated legal framework. The chairing officers explained the nuances of the new laws, clarifying their implications and stressing the importance of adherence to legal statutes for maintaining societal order.
These programmes witness active participation from students and local and teaching staff who engaged in interactive discussions, questions and sought clarifications on the legal provisions presented. The new laws include provisions that ensure justice for the victims of crime and the society at large. Modernization of the investigation process through the use of technology has been included.
